I have been meaning to let you know, that I have been very happy with FilterGate for the several years I have been using it. You stay on top of software issues, and the frequent automatic filter updates give me peace of mind. My
kids do research on the internet for school projects and I know FilterGate well enough to allow that to be done without supervision. The times I have tried to challenge the filters with searches have impressed me, I have not found vulnerabilities that scare me nor do I feel that it
over-filters and removes significant material that's wanted. The pop-up blocker is great, I have come to depend on it. You should be proud for creating a product that actually works like it's supposed to. I recommend it to others whenever the subject comes up, which is frequently as I
maintain PCs for friends and several small businesses. Grant

"Look no further!"
I have tried Guard-IE, Popup Smasher, Popup killer and finally FilterGate. Don't waste efforts anymore, this one is the best, it is effective, easy to use too, and includes most needed features. It would be even better if it has a handy button for deleting all temp internet files, cookies and history, as well as providing an option for disallowing webpage to resize/move the postion of browser (these 2 are features from Guard-IE).

"Stable and fairly effective"
Have been using this product since it was Adfilter and recommended by one of the UKs computer magazines early last year. It gets better with each update - stops ads, pop ups and protects privacy well. Filters the majority of sites without problems, however it still allows you to bypass the filters / report problems if necessary. Easy to configure (works well straight away) stable and a very small download. Decent product support through email as well. Doesn't draw attention to itself, just sits in the system tray and gets on with things - certainly one to try if you are looking for a filter product.

Filters ads, adult content filter and a privacy filter all rolled into 1 what more need be said a very useful bit of software, protects the kids free to try so give it a go, you will end up buying it, seems to be much more flexible than other net nanny products and you get ad and privacy filters thrown in, some problems with a few sites (blocks them completely, but has a built in report option to inform author)

"Better than the free stuff"
I have found that this thing is a good all in one package. Yes you can get several different packages and configure them all to work the same as this one package, but this puts it all in one easy place. I switched from two other popular filters (webwasher, popupkiller) to this one product.

"The best program of this type."
I tried at least a dozen of these programs before finding this one. I've been using this for a month now and can block more ads with this one than any other program. Totaly customizable, just set it up once and forget it. Plus you get free upgrades nothing more to buy.

I've only had it for less than a week however it's working well so far and is filtering almost everything. It could do with a couple more features though it's all I need for now.

I've been using FilterGate since it was AdFilter, and it's always managed to get rid of all banner ads and most popups. It really speeds up website loading times too.

Many of you know me as a freeware
addict, and I must admit that this is true... up to a point. I have no objection to
purchasing software that meets my needs and performs as expected. FilterGate is such a
program! I've used it for more than two years, it was very good when I first got it, now,
after two major updates (free) it is superb!
FilterGate claims:
"With FilterGate installed, web pages
load faster and intrusive advertising graphics and popup windows disappear!"
"FilterGate is the world's most powerful
software for removing advertisements from web pages - speeding up access to the
information you want, greatly reducing download bandwidth and accelerating up your web
access."
"Using our advanced filtering
technology, FilterGate does not simply look for a banner-like image or a link to a third
party site. Using a variety of techniques, FilterGate analyzes the web page and makes a
deadly accurate judgment on whether the content is an advertisement or promotion."
In my experience, this is all true, and
FilterGate is a bargain at just $34.95! Don't take my word for it, find out for yourself.
Download a free trial version from FilterGate at
http://filtergate.com. This latest version of FilterGate does not require
any proxy settings and works flawlessly with ZoneAlarm.
One feature of
FilterGate I have not tried is adult filtering. You can block sites, and
search results based on selectable content such as pornography, bad language, and
violence. These settings can be password protected.
Similar applications I've tried are The
Proxomitron, Universal Web Filter, and WebWasher, a filter program for Web pages,
originally developed by Siemens. They are both powerful, effective, programs, but not
nearly as easy to configure and use as FilterGate.
